Treehouses?! OH YEAH!

Well, I just got the message that the theme this week is "Treehouses"... needless to say, I thought it was super cool!
It made me think of this one place right away. Cedar Creek Treehouse at Mount Rainier:

Also, you need to keep up with the magazine "Ready Made". They have a great print magazine, but the website is really amazing as well.
They have some cool things like "Grown Up Treehouses". Always fun! It's something I hope I can one day have in my own home. I love a good hide-out, and my blanket tent isn't as fun as a treehouse!!

FIRST TOPIC!

Hello my furry minions. After conferring with the secret NMB council of robots and squid creatures we have decided to make this weeks topic: Tree-houses! Yes, you are tasked with drawing, creating, or designing the worlds best, coolest, worst, on fire, or in space tree-house!
Any thing goes, just use the topic as a general jumping off point to create awesomeness! Again, just title you work with your name and the topic when posting and remember to get it done by next Sunday! Have fun kids.

Needs More Blue will post its first ever topic tomorrow (Sunday, August 28) if I am correct, and lets face it I am, the rules are as follows.

1. First rule of NMB don't talk about NMB. ...(had to be done)
2. Topics we'll be posted on Sunday at the leisure of the topic master grand extraordinaire.
3. Topic master grand extraordinaire will be notified of there appointment by Philip or myself.
4. You may post your submission for that week any time that week.
5. Theoretically, submissions are "due" by Saturday. For the next topic on Sunday.
6. Don't feel pressured. If you cant do it that week don't do it.
7. There is no ranking system or winner." However if you are the first post that week you may proudly declare "first!"
8. No overly nasty stuff, or stuff that my offend people.
9. No mean comments
10. No posting of artwork that isn't yours. (claiming others work)

For the Heck of It

I decided to do a little doodle in honor of our blog- nothing special and certainly nothing that hasn't probably already been done. But what the heck? I don't have a good working scanner, so the pictures aren't the greatest. I took two: the first take and then a second when I added more color to it. Like I said, not the greatest in the world, but thought I'd share. Enjoy, if you will! - Kourtney

Allow me to introduce myself...

Jessica Hill here. I was invited by Phillip to contribute to the blog after he got in touch with me. He emailed me after he saw some of my little paintings up at MIR Gallery in the Arcade. I was impressed with his work as well and I am thrilled to meet new local talent.
I have to say- I love Nashville. I love how all of the artists here really support and encourage each other. I love how we all share things that inspire us. It's really refreshing and I think it shows in the local art scene. There are more talented artists here than I could even mention!

SO- there is my little "Hello". I will share more links and interesting things when I am not under a deadline! (I am a freelance designer and illustrator/painter who has yet to really make any money. But I love what I do!)

I'm not much of a designy person, so as I have been learning some stuff on my computer I threw these together... sorta sad Ha Ha

Lets see what kind of stuff you grand masters can put together! It doesn't have to be any thing insanely complicated. It just needs to be something to get the job done. Could possibly be something very simple, but fun (done in spare time if you have any.) We are sorta trying to model this thing after the way this site was done: ComicTwart.

We should start being able to add all the artists and get our weekly themes goin' soon! :)
