Graffiti- Philip A. Buck

The first thing I thought of when I saw Graffiti was the theme for this week was LdV's The Last Supper. I guess because it was early "wall art?" Haha I don't know.  Anywho this is what came to mind.  I wish I had been able to spend more time on it, but then again, I spent a lot more time than I should have on it already haha.  I hope you crazy, awesome kids enjoy!

Sock Monkey Crocheted Baby Hat -Katie

A sock monkey for monkey week! Sorry for such a lame topic, haha.
Crocheted for a friend's baby boy. I think I'll go back and make the monkey's brim a bit thicker with the blue...maybe fix his mouth line a bit.

Hope everyone's having a great, inspiring week! <3

This Week Chosen By Jessica:

This week's Topic By Jessica:

"Actually, I was thinking about the topic "analytics and art". I recently got a job as the Marketing Coordinator at the nashville Technology Council, which I LOVE. But much of my day is spent flipping back and forth between creative thinking and analytical thinking.
I know many artists who have to do the same. But most people think that if you are a designer or artist you must be all creative all the time... someone with their head in the clouds. But that is not at all the case these days. We are all required to think with both sides of our brain and do things that a lot of people can't! Go into some HTML code and fix things up? Sure! Come up with a new poster to promote an event! Yes! Put together a Power Point presentation? Alright! Oh, and write some copy for this newsletter, which will be printed and sent out as an e-newsletter.
I do it all, and I love the challenge. But it's just that. A CHALLENGE. How does everyone else do it?"

Cultural Styles- Philip A. Buck

click to embiggify
Also titled Walking the Dog
I chose to work in a historical artistic style this week, which was the Mixteca-Puebla style.
I thought I'd have some fun with it.  I did!
(I did this after the image Wedding of King Eight Deer to Lady Thirteen Serpent of Flowers)
Thanks for the fun, yet challenging topic, Gretchen!

A Dapper Cat Doing Dapper Things -Philip A. Buck

I drew this quickly last Friday and was hoping to get it scanned and 'colored' before Sunday, but oh well, haha I didn't.  I sorta wish now that I had spent a little more time on the drawing part, especially the people, since some bits of this ended up purty good.  It had been a while since I'd done a comic page, so I figured this would be great practice.
Great topic Destry! Lots of fun!

Daniel - Americana

The Wilmot Proviso, one of the major events leading up to the Civil War, would have banned slavery in any territory to be acquired from Mexico in the Mexican War or in the future, including the area later known as the Mexican Cession, but which some proponents construed to also include the disputed lands in south Texas and New Mexico east of the Rio Grande.

There is a good chance that either I or my sister, Mary took this photo.  We were tossing the same camera back and forth between us that day, so who knows. I'll try to post something that's actually new this week if I get a chance.
